The SIVADS of March are upon us- starting tonight!

Lots of great events happening this weekend paying tribute to Watson Davis, also known as SIVAD- local horror host of “Fantastic Features” here in Memphis back in the late 60′s and early 70′s.

I’ll be a part of a horror art show at Adam Shaw’s studio (2547 Broad Avenue) this Friday, March 26th from 6-8pm.

Fellow MSCA members Adam Shaw, Greg Cravens, Kevin Williams will be showing their SIVAD and horror tribute art, as well as comic artists Dean Zachary and Jim Hall- and artist/wrestler/former Memphis mayoral candidate Jerry “The King” Lawler.

I’m a media ho’ again!

I’ll be on Channel 3′s Live at 9 morning show this Monday morning talking about the upcoming MidSouthCon (March 12-14 in Olive Branch, MS).

I’ve been on before with Alex and Marybeth pimping my comic Bushi Tales. This time I’ll be pimping the art and comics programming MSC will have to offer sci-fi fans next month at the con.
This year’s con will have Kevin J. Anderson, Gail Simone, Billy Tackett, John Jackson Miller, and many more!
I’ll have at least one of my paintings there, and should be doing some sketching live.
You can see one of my paintings in an interview about the con on Fox13 here. (Thanks, Carlin!)

Check today’s Commercial Appeal’s GoMemphis.com section and you’ll find me!

Was waiting for my Chick-Fil-A to-go order this morning and saw a copy of the Commercial Appeal sitting on a table next to me.
I opened it up and looked for the Go Memphis section (was the Playbook) to see if my show got listed.
I opened it up and viola- there I was!

It almost scared me a bit. Glad I wasn’t having my morning coffee when I saw this!

Great listing, and I couldn’t ask for a better placement!

I’m also listed on the GoMemphis.com site!
Lots of other great Halloween happenings going on around town listed, too- like Haunted Web of Horrors haunted house and “Gorey Stories”, a macabre assortment of tales, songs, and limericks from the gothic outpourings of writer-illustrator Edward Gorey.

Looking forward to just hanging out and having fun tonight at my art show finally. Finished the last painting for it this morning before leaving for work (Jack).

Stick a pitchfork in me- I’m done!

In other pimp it related news, Dave Beaty is in the DC Universe Halloween Special. This is his first official DC Comics credit! The issue is on stands in local comic shops and on-line stores now.
Congrats, Dave!

The latest Denny O’Neil blog is up- How To Write Comics #4- Why Don’t You Grow A Spine?

Also- I’m in the latest issue of the Memphis Flyer!
No…that’s not me on the cover, but I wish I had those abs!

I’m a media ho’!

Don’t forget- the art show is this Friday, October 23rd from 6-10pm at Adam Shaw’s Studio on Broad Ave. Directions to the show can be found here.

The Memphis Flyer can be found all over Memphis (look for the green newspaper boxes in front of stores and on street corners). The paper is free and lists many other cool events going on this week/weekend like the Haunted Web of Horrors haunted house, which benefits Youth Villages.

Once the art show is over I can get out to the haunt to play. Miss scaring folks!

Scare ya later!

Nicki’s web blog has been delayed a bit.
Nicki’s sister Teresa was taken to the ER with pneumonia on Saturday and we spent a lot of time in the hospital and waiting rooms. She’s not out of the woods yet, and is still very critical, but she’s getting better and has Nicki looking after her- you couldn’t ask for someone better to watch over you. But, Nicki’s had to be at the hospital every night this week so she’s not had time to post anything yet.
I had my drawing supplies with me this weekend so I did a few sketch cards while testing out the hospital waiting room chairs.

C-3PO

Clone Trooper

Watto
Also got to do a little more painting on Saturday before our hospital trek.

Vincent in progress- airbrush on canvas.
Hopefully this weekend I’ll get a bit more work done. The show is coming up quick- October 23rd!
Speaking of coming up quick, the Haunted Web of Horrors haunted house opens tomorrow night. I got a chance to run out last night and finish up the 3-D effects I had started and touched up a few killer klowns. Also got to go through and see the rest of the haunt. There will be a few familiar scares, but there’s also lots of new things to check out this year.
