New Denny O’Neil article at bleedingcool.com-
…one way to create characters is for the writer to ask and answer four questions.
*What does my character always want?
*Who or what does he love?
*What is he afraid of?
*Why does he involve himself in extreme situations?

Thinking outside The Black Box
Last night I recorded a podcast with my friends Shawn Pryor, Jon Carroll, and Martheus Antone Wade for an upcoming episode of The Black Box. Not sure when the air date will be, but as soon as I know I’ll post it here. We had a great time talking about self-publishing and the ups and downs that can come with it.
I’m hoping to start my own Comic Whore podcast in the near future, but it’ll at least be after the holidays. Got enough on my plate right now to keep me plenty busy!
Like writing more Comic Whore updates for Mondays. If you have any ideas, questions about self-publishing/promotions, or things for me to pimp please send them on. You can reach me at lin (at) linworkman (dot) com.
Type at ya later,
Lin

The latest Denny O’Neil blog is up- How To Write Comics #4- Why Don’t You Grow A Spine?

Also- I’m in the latest issue of the Memphis Flyer!
No…that’s not me on the cover, but I wish I had those abs!

I’m a media ho’!

Don’t forget- the art show is this Friday, October 23rd from 6-10pm at Adam Shaw’s Studio on Broad Ave. Directions to the show can be found here.

The Memphis Flyer can be found all over Memphis (look for the green newspaper boxes in front of stores and on street corners). The paper is free and lists many other cool events going on this week/weekend like the Haunted Web of Horrors haunted house, which benefits Youth Villages.

Once the art show is over I can get out to the haunt to play. Miss scaring folks!

Scare ya later!

Denny’s back again this week for more on how to write comics. Click here for #3.
Denny O’Neil has a long history in the comics industry as both a writer and editor. He’s best known for writing Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Batman, through the seventies, Spider-Man in the eighties and for editing Batman-related titles in the nineties. A widely published novelist and screenwriter, he is currently lecturing at the NYU on Writing Comics And Graphic Novels, starting today. Bleeding Cool is grateful to receive a taster of the course every week.
